Consignor refers to the person or company who sends goods for shipment or delivery. In other words, it refers to the person or company who sends the merchandise after selling it or for dispatching purposes. Consignor is the sender of goods from the point of origin in the logistics process and is usually specified in the transportation contract. The consignor is responsible for bearing transportation costs, packing and preparing the shipment, and handling tasks such as export declarations. It is a term that is used synonymously with a "shipper" and it is an opposite of a consignee.
