Glossary CY (Container Yard)

Container Yard(CY) is a temporary storage location for containers that have been unloaded from a ship, to facilitate the movement of cargo between the vessel and various modes of transportation such as trucks, trains, etc. Typically located in ports or logistics centers, CYs have several machines such as cranes and forklifts for loading and storing containers. The containers stored in CYs can be transported to other areas by different modes of transportation or transferred to other ships.
