Glossary Palletization

Palletization refers to the loading and transportation of goods using pallets. Pallets were originally used by individual companies to move and store goods within factories. They were also used by transporters when loading cargo onto trucks. Later, a method developed where a certain number of pallets were loaded with cargo and sent from the sender's door or factory to the receiver's door, factory, or warehouse. This method is known as palletization or pallet pool transportation. One of the advantages of pallet transportation is rationalization of physical distribution for shippers, transport warehouse operators, and others. Others include simplification of packaging, reduction of packaging costs, improved transportation efficiency, reduction of accidents, and liberation from manual labor. To promote palletization, it is imperative to establish pallet pool system, standardize pallet sizes, adjust imbalances in physical distribution costs, revenue, and expenses, reduce equipment costs for palletization and pallet manufacturing costs, and optimize transportation fees.
