Glossary ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning)

ERP is a concept that refers to optimally managing all corporate resources through information integration. It is an integrated information system that is expanded from MRP (Material Requirement Planning) in the 1970s and MRP II (Manufacturing Resource Planning) in the 1980s. Gartner first used the term ERP, and it is based on the idea that correct decisions regarding manufacturing cannot be made without simultaneously considering the upper/lower supply systems such as customer companies and subcontractors, and the work of related departments within the company, such as design, sales, and cost accounting. From the perspective of system configuration and user convenience, ERP is a system that minimized non-flexibility, the disadvantage of the existing MRP and MRP II. From a technology standpoint, it is a decentralized open system that adopted new technologies including object-oriented technology and distributed data processing, open architecture, rightsizing, etc.
